Art historian, head of the Department of Foreign Art of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus
Svetlana Prokopyeva graduated from the A.K. Glebov Minsk Art School (now the A.K. Glebov Minsk State Art College), Department of Art Design, and completed her full-time studies at the I.E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (now the Russian Academy of Arts, St. Petersburg), Department of Art Theory and History, with a qualification as an art historian.
From 1996 to the present, she has worked at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus as Head of the Foreign Art Department and Curator of the European Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Art Collections. Her primary focus is research and attribution of works of fine art from the 17th–19th centuries.
She is the author of numerous art historical works published in specialized publications in Belarus and abroad, and has also served as a curator and co-curator of numerous exhibition projects in Belarus.
