"Katarina, or the Robber's Daughter" is a courageous educational project of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, which for the first time in Russia presents to the public a ballet forgotten for more than a hundred years from the legacy of the outstanding choreographer, librettist, author of the famous "Giselle" Jules Perrot.

About

The plot is based on real events from the life of the Italian rebel artist Salvator Rosa - his meeting and love with the robber chieftain Katarina. The ballet turned out to be a temperamental, passionate story in the spirit of the best adventure novels - the era of late romanticism could not help but add both a touch of drama and a touch of comedy.

The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre has brought this charming, undeservedly forgotten production back to life, paying tribute not only to the virtuoso dances, but also to the various plot revisions: the ballet is danced, suddenly, with several endings, for every taste.

The performance received ten nominations for the National Theatre Award "Golden Mask - 2023":

In three of them, the performance was awarded this high prize: its laureates were Elena Svinko, Pyotr Pospelov and the performance itself as the best work of the season in ballet.
